About the Workshop

Kate is formally trained in fashion design and production with a degree from the University of Brighton. She has experience working as a seamstress for a sustainable brand in Greater Manchester, and as a design intern for a luxury streetwear brand in London. In this workshop we will be learning how to create a pattern for, and construct this gathered skirt. The skirt features a draw string waist with elastic and pockets. It is a light flowing skirt for spring summer whilst also being perfect for layering up in the colder months. In this class you will learn how to measure and draft a pattern to your unique shape, you will learn how to apply pockets and the best way to add an elasticated waistband and how to best insert a drawstring for decoration as well as size adjustment. As with all our classed the cost covers the tuition use of studio facilities, sewing machines and pattern paper. It does not cover the cost of fabric or any other notions you will need to complete your project. We provide tea and coffee all day but not lunch you can use one of the lovely cafes in new mills or bring your own. There is parking nearby in the town hall car park or there is lots of parking a short walk away. you can park outside the shop with a disabled badge for 3 hours only.
